About Us
Odisha State Secretariat Badminton Association (OSSBA) is a premier registered sports association raised by the employees of the Odisha Secretariat under Chief Patronship of the Chief Secretary, Odisha. This association, in addition to its main motto of promoting the game of badminton among the employees of the State Government, also promotes the game of badminton in the State of Odisha by conducting tournaments at different levels.
Odisha State Secretariat Badminton Association (OSSBA) was registered in the year 2006 with some sports like-minded employees to promote the game of badminton not only in the Secretariat but also in the State. Since then, we have been organizing a number of tournaments and coaching camps at state level as well as Secretariat level. To provide opportunity to the govt. employees, OSSBA holds a state level championship exclusively for govt. employees irrespective of State Govt., Central Govt., PSUs etc. every alternate year. In fact, successful players are drawn from this championship to represent the Odisha Civil Services Badminton Team to participate in the All India Civil Services Badminton Tournament held every year in different States, being entrusted by Home Department. That apart, we contribute to the society in shape of organizing blood donation camps, contributing to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. We had invited Padmashree Pullela Gopichand, who was the All England Champion, to inaugurate the 1st All Odisha Open Badminton Tournament in the year 2007 and this was his first visit to Odisha.
Being excited and motivated by our efforts, many badminton associations, which were lying in sleeping mode, started organizing tournaments. Today, a number of badminton tournaments at different levels are being conducted by many organizations, almost throughout the year. So, for reviving the game of badminton in the State, definitely credit goes to us (OSSBA).
